As is typical of the Ruhr region, discover historical witnesses to the turbulent times of the steel industry. The Landschaftspark Nord in Duisburg is home to a disused steelworks covering an area of 180 hectares with an accessible gasometer, historic factory halls and an old ore storage bunker. Within the green area in Duisburg-Meiderich there is a climbing garden, a diving center and a high ropes course.
Incidentally, Duisburg was the setting for the famous crime series with detective Horst Schimanski. Former filming locations such as the picturesque inner harbor, the zoo with Australian koala bears and the Wedau district with its sports park and soccer stadium can still be visited today.

German Mining Museum Bochum
As the largest mining museum in the world, the German Mining Museum Bochum displays a wide range of exhibits from the history of mining. Here you can also admire the huge mining machines. A demonstration mine explains tunnel driving and coal extraction. The winding tower offers a sweeping view over the Ruhr region. The German Mining Museum is a good five minutes' drive from our H+ Hotel Bochum.
Medieval wall paintings in the Stiepel village church in Bochum
The Stiepel village church is one of the oldest preserved buildings in the city of Bochum. The hall church was built in the 11th century and was decorated with wall paintings such as ornaments, pictures of saints and biblical stories between the 12th and 16th centuries. It is around 20 minutes by car from the H+ Hotel Bochum to the Stiepel village church.
Bochum provost church "St. Peter and Paul" with defense tower
The Catholic provost's church "St. Peter and Paul" from the 11th century is the oldest and, until 1655, the only church in Bochum. in 1547, the provost's church was rebuilt as a Gothic hall church.
