Well equipped for the world of work

All beginnings are easy: From 02 to 05 August 2023, this year's Boot Camp of H- Hotels.com took place at its H+ Hotel Leipzig-Halle. Launched by the hotel group in 2016, it prepares all in-house trainees and dual students for their start in professional life. On the first day, after the presentation of the company, getting to know each other in an informal setting over dinner was on the agenda. On the following days, the participants were given first impressions of their fields of activity in various workshops. The focus was on topics such as guest-oriented behaviour, working in the restaurant and housekeeping as well as HACCP and occupational safety training. A cinema evening and a closing party with a DJ provided the necessary relaxation. The event, which lasted several days, is part of the company's own Young Star Academy, in which the newcomers are optimally supervised from the first to the last day of their training. With this, the hotel group underlines the high value it places on qualified training. This year, H-Hotels.com welcomes 72 newcomers to its ranks. „The experience of the past boot camps has shown us that the young professionals really appreciate the event. It takes away their fear of contact and gives them the opportunity to familiarise themselves with their future tasks in a relaxed setting. The Boot Camp forms an optimal foundation for a good start into training," says Sarah Sigloch, Vice President Human Resources at H-Hotels.com. The Young Star Academy also offers various practical trainings in the areas of service, merchandise knowledge and technical calculations as well as personality coaching in each training year.

The highlight of the second year is the Young Star Award, where participants compete in a friendly competition. At the end of the first and third year of apprenticeship, five-day "Learn & Work Weeks" take place, which optimally prepare the young employees for the exams. They receive extensive theoretical knowledge, which they apply in practical exercises and simulated exam situations. Individual solutions are also found for those who need extra help or have exam nerves. In addition, all apprentices have a trainee coach and a mentor from a higher apprenticeship year at their side.
