Searching for the best young talent
H-Hotels.com presents Young Star Awards 2023 – Apprentices and dual students demonstrate their skills
Bad Arolsen, 20 June 2023 – Highlight for young talents: At the beginning of June 2023, H-Hotels.com presented the Young Star Award at the HYPERION Hotel Leipzig for the tenth time. At the annual event, the best second-year apprentices and third- and fourth-semester dual students, who were previously determined in a qualification round, compete against each other. This year, 23 participants showed their skills in a friendly competition. They completed tasks in various areas such as bar, banquet, kitchen, restaurant and marketing. These included planning an event with flyer design, creating a conference schedule and setting up the conference room as well as setting a table correctly including wine service. In the cocktail competition, which has become a tradition, they gave free rein to their creativity and created a new drink. The winner "Little Monkey" by Roslina Sutopo-Remling, trainee hotel specialist H+ Hotel Köln-Brühl, is now available at the bars of all hotels of h-hotels.com for one year. Due to the particularly many good creations, four additional cocktails have also been added to the menu for the first time. The Young Star Award created by H-Hotels.com stands for the special importance the hotel group attaches to the topics of training and mentoring young talents. In 2021, it was awarded the Hospitality HR Award by the German Hotel Academy for its exemplary performance in the field. "We appreciate that our trainees have chosen the hotel industry and H-Hotels.com in particular and are passionate about their work with us. We would like to duly reward this within the framework of the award," says Thomas Haas, CEO of H-Hotels GmbH. Sarah Sigloch, Vice President Human Resources, adds: "The topic of training and further education has a very high priority for us. Our ultimate goal is to be able to take on and retain junior staff." All participants received a cash prize of 250 euros, and the first to third place winners can look forward to a bonus of 1,000, 750 and 500 euros respectively. The winner of the cocktail competition also received a high-quality professional bar blender as a gift.
