Budget-friendly H2 Hotel Saarbrücken celebrates opening at traditional location
For four weeks, the team at the H2 Hotel Saarbrücken has been familiarising itself with internal processes. Today, Frank Oettinger, Senior Vice President Operations and Openings of the H-Hotels Group, to which the H2 Hotels brand belongs, and around 80 invited guests from politics and business as well as employees are celebrating the opening. The new building has 182 double rooms and 20 four-bed rooms from the second to the eighth floor. Budget-friendly H2 Hotel Wien Schönbrunn celebrates its grand opening.
Whether business travellers, groups, city hoppers or families, ‘our guests equally appreciate the modern, stylish ambience, the comfort and the functional rooms,’ reports Karsten Böllecke, Manager of the H2 Hotel. Different shades of grey dominate the colour concept of the public areas and rooms, creating a distinct spatial depth. Wood and copper elements create a relaxed, cosy atmosphere. The lighting focusses on design elements that tie in with the city's mining and industrial history - including grids and metal structures. Stuttgart-based Geplan Design is responsible for the interior design. ‘There used to be a hotel on this site, then an office building. With our design hotel, we are building a bridge between the past and the future. On the other hand, we are emphasising our connection to Saarland with the regionally inspired interior design,’ says Frank Oettinger.
Saarbrücken's Lord Mayor Uwe Conradt welcomes the hotel addition: ‘Tourism in Saarbrücken is at a new record level. With the H2 Hotel, Saarbrücken is gaining another meeting point, overnight accommodation and place to stay that will help to meet the growing demand. Thanks to its central location, hotel guests can easily reach and discover the numerous sights and attractions of our state capital. We wish the H2 team a good start and every success!’
The centrepiece of the H2 Hotel Saarbrücken is the so-called hub with a show kitchen on the second floor. After the breakfast buffet, hotel guests and locals can enjoy drinks and food until late in the evening. A new feature is the focus on street food, a pilot project by the H-Hotels Group, which its food designer Kai Neumann developed especially for the H2 Hotel Saarbrücken. The chef reinterprets classics by adding fresh accents with wild herbs and spices. Mustard eggs are deep-fried with mustard espuma, mustard cabbage, mustard caviar and popped rice. The beef chilli con carne is given a new twist with cheddar espuma, sliced cheddar and chilli oil. The cosy seating and free high-speed Internet around the HUB invite you to linger or work.
In addition to modern comforts, the new build also incorporates sustainable construction methods. For example, the photovoltaic system on the roof generates more than 90 per cent of the electricity required, while the LED lighting throughout the building has a low energy consumption.
The H2 Hotel Saarbrücken is strategically located in the immediate vicinity of the main railway station, the congress centre and the shopping facilities of the Europa-Galerie and pedestrian zone. Guests arriving by car will find parking spaces in the neighbouring Goldbeck multi-storey car park at a preferential rate.
With the H2 Hotel Saarbrücken, the H-Hotels Group operates ten hotels under the budget-friendly H2 Hotels brand. Thanks to the individual modern interior design, each of these hotels is unique. The rooms always include barrier-free and wheelchair-accessible rooms. The hotel group has a total of six brands in its portfolio - from the premium brand HYPERION Hotels to H.ostel.
