Only the vaults of the first town hall survived the fire of 1659 and were rebuilt with the new "Old Town Hall" in 1667. The vaulted cellar still houses the Ratskeller, which was first mentioned in 1305 and is one of the oldest in Germany. You can enjoy regional specialties in today's brewery and wine cellar. It takes around five minutes to walk from the H+ Hotel Stade Herzog Widukind to the Kunsthaus Stade.
