The historic old town of Ried features the typical architecture that you’ll find the Inn-Salzach-cities. It’s a very inviting space, with its squares and alleyways, which are perfect for a leisurely stroll. There’s a great deal of history to be found here, for example, the main square, with its old Bavarian hall and bourgeois façades, as well as the Braunauer and the Schärdinger Tor, belonged to the old town fortification.
The parish church of St. Peter and Paul is also located on the church square. The 73-meter high church tower and the stuccoed chapel hall, whose side chapels were donated by the local guilds, are worth visiting. The Hochaltar and the famous Ölberg group are among other work carefully crafted by the sculptor family, the Schwanthalers. The walk from the H+ Hotel Ried to the old town takes only five minutes.
Along the Breitsach river, you’ll come across the Neue Stadtpark (New City Park), which acts as the "green lung of Ried" and offers passers-by plenty of shade in the summer. The park is perfect for jogging, walking, exploring nature or for a visit to the children's playground. Here in the park, everyone can relax and unwind in their own way. The Alte Stadtpark (Old City Park) was originally a private garden, where the lawyer Dr. Thomas Senn planted trees and all kinds of plants on an 11,000 square meter plot.
In 1910, the city bought the land and created a beautiful garden for all the residents. Both parks are just a ten-minute walk from the H+ Hotel Ried.
