Leipzig has many cultural attractions. The famous St. Thomas Church, where Bach was once the choirmaster, and the world-famous Gewandhaus concert hall, are close to one another. The university is next to the Gewandhaus. If you have read Goethe’s Faust, then you might like to visit the famous Auerbachkeller. 

This is close to the Mädler Passage. There you can relax, shop and enjoy the interesting architecture. In the evening, there is plenty of culture and an interesting nightlife in Leipzig for you to enjoy. Monument to the Battle of the Nations - 300,000 tonnes of stone

The Monument to the Battle of the Nations (Völkerschlachtdenkmal) is a reminder of the 1813 battle. At 91 metres, it is one of the largest memorials in Europe. Visitors are impressed by the Ruhmeshalle pantheon and its guard statues, and the domed ceiling decorated with 324 almost life-sized equestrian paintings. You can drive here in around 15 minutes from the H4 Hotel Leipzig.

The Thomaskirche dates back to the 15th century, and is famous worldwide for its former choirmaster, Johann Sebastian Bach, as well as the “Thomanerchor”, or St. Thomas Choir. The church’s exterior is characterised above all by its Renaissance tower. Inside the church is Bach’s final resting place. The Thomanerchor performs here regularly. The Grassi Museum houses the Ethnography Museum (Museum für Völkerkunde), the Applied Arts Museum (Museum für Angewandte Kunst), and the Musical Instruments Museum (Museum für Musikinstrumente). The complex was built from 1925 to 1929 and, like some of the exhibition spaces, is designed in the “Neue Sachlichkeit” (New Objectivity) and “Art Deco” styles.
